This is actually what the same architect (as the one below) , Gert Wingårdh, first came up with! But the the politicians in Stockholm are just such a bunch of cowards! They thought it was just too spaced out and turned it down! So they chose to erect a building that is plain, blends in and will probably simply disappear... (sigh!)

The new Landmark at Norra Bantorget.
Look! The front will be in glass. How progressive. Never, ever seen it before.

Simon Spies (1921-84) was a wealthy excentric Dane who had made his fortune in the travel business. Villa Spies, or Villa Fjolle as it's also called, was built on a small island in the Stockholm archipelago as a summerhouse. Swedish architect Staffan Berglund designed the UFO-like house in 1969. Here and here is where you go for more info and photos.
They say he had great sexual appetite.

What were they thinking?
Imagine the pitch to the investors:
'It's going to be a futuristic, state-of-the-art motel with every modern convenience from water beds to 8-tracks. The entire dining area will be covered in deep-pile pink and purple carpet. But wait - here's the best part. It will look like an abstract sculpture of a giant turkey. We'll bill it as a romantic getaway - and call it The Gobbler!'"
