Music: Lee Hazlewood - Cowboy In Sweden
"This sublime record from 1970 seems like the quintessence of everything the composer with the dark brown baritone had achieved during his projects in the 1960's. Especially the moods and styles from the Nancy Sinatra period (Some Velvet Morning, Summer Wine) echoe strongly. Divine!"
Thus writes Lellebelle and offers us to download this fine record.
A nice article (från den digitala kulturtidskriften Krauss99) in Swedish about Lee.

Stuff: Need a clown?
"Old working Schuco clown. Height about 10-12 cm. It plays the fiddle and moves when you wind it up."
Bid for it here. It's at about 100 bucks right now.
(Note: Martin Klasch has nothing to do with it! Just thought it looked interesting)

Architecture: Villa Spies
Simon Spies (1921-84) was a wealthy excentric Dane who had made his fortune in the travel business. Villa Spies, or Villa Fjolle as it's also called, was built on a small island in the Stockholm archipelago as a summerhouse. Swedish architect Staffan Berglund designed the UFO-like house in 1969. Here and here is where you go for more info and photos.
They say he had great sexual appetite.
Thanks to Mr J who ordered this post.

"What follows is a few of my favorite crime comic books. In selecting these, I just flipped through my collection and started picking out books. Reasons for inclusion vary. Some simply have great eye appeal." This says Richard Wolfe, the person behind Crimeboss - Crime comic Books from the 1940s & 1950s, and you just got to agree. They do have eye appeal!

Music: Right On! Soul Hits
"Right On Soul Hits - the stone smashes that are in the charts today! The big ones written by James Brown, Joe Tex, Marvin Gaye, Wilson Pickett and a host of others. The tunes that are lighting up the soul charts from New Orleans to Boston - L.A. to New York. A right on collection in the original sound." (from the Liner Notes)
I don't know anything about who's playing but I think the recordings, on this album released in 1972, are great. Groovy listening!

Illustration: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
"It all began in 1927. That's when Walt Disney's "Alice Comedies" cartoon series concluded - and when Disney signed a new contract with Universal Pictures. The plan was to create a new cartoon series under producers Charles Mintz and George Winkler. Disney and his colleague, head animator Ub Iwerks, devised a new character named Oswald the Lucky Rabbit."

Audio Ephemera: European Holiday
Sometime in the 50s SAS (Scandinavian Airlines System) made this promotional record aimed at the US market.
The B side is not very interesting it only consists of three pieces of classical Scandinavian music ("Suite ancienne" /Johan Halvorsen, "Pastoral suite" /Lars-Erik Larsson, "Champagne galop" /H.C. Lumbye). Not bad but you will find better recordings.
The A side, however, is made as a sort of musical...
"Pictures, colorful as they may be, tell only a part of the wonders of Europe. Even pictures with exciting words can't tell all the story. It takes 3D to bring a European Holiday to full, glorious life... pictures, words - AND MUSIC! And that's why this records was born.
"European Holiday" is a star feature of the giant-size S A S Travel PLanning Kit.
Here is the most exciting way ever devised for planning your trip. You see pictures of the wonderful sights in Europe... read about them....and the HEAR about hem too in this gay, romantic, Mitch Miller production. So start the music - and start dreaming!"
