I've posted this before but I was just reminded of how great this collection of lost and found vintage photos is. So here's the link once more: Square America Snapshots & Vernacular Photography

Do you know your eye patches? And do you have any other favorite eye patch carriers?
Who would you add?
Reader patches:
Space Debris would like to add
G.X. Jupitter-Larsen (performance artist)
I didn't know him, thank you, Space!
Secretly a Terrific Whistler nominates
Nadine Hurley Queen of the Silent Drape Runners!!!
Yes, of course! Mad Nadine (Wendy Robie) from Twin Peaks who was obsessed with silent drape runners and suddenly thought she was a high school student again and somehow gained super powers!
Desoto's candidate is Ryan Cawdor (Vincent Spano) from Deathlands.
I hadn't heard of this show. Thanks for enlightening me, Desoto!

Why do birds
Suddenly appear?
Everytime you are near
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
Why do stars
Fall down from the sky?
Everytime you walk by
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
(*) On the day that you were born
The angels got together and decided
To create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moondust in your hair
Of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue
(**) That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
Repeat (*)
Repeat (**)
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
Woo... Close to you...

Scary shark pictures! Are they for real? I don't know and I don't particularly care... I just know the are scary.

"In post-World War II America anything seemed possible, even going to the Moon! There appeared in 1949, a book The Conquest of Space , which led to a new trend in children's books. These books outlined the future the children of the "baby boom" would grow up in, the world of space..."

Until today I had never heard of Rube Goldberg. I had seen some of his comic illustrations but certainly never heard of the concept of "a Rube Goldberg machine".
Read about him and the machines here at Wikipedia and visit "the Official Rube Goldberg Web Site". Below you can watch a couple of videos of Rube Goldberg machines (via Milk and Cookies).
If you feel inspired maybe you'd like to play this game.
