Album Covers: Unknown Pleasures (1979)
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures: "The front cover image comes from an edition of the Cambridge Encyclopedia of Astronomy, and was originally drawn with black lines on a white background. It presents successive pulses from the first pulsar discovered.../... The image was suggested by drummer Stephen Morris and the cover design is credited to Joy Division, Peter Saville and Chris Mathan."

Album Covers: Lille Gerhard
The top two (EP) covers, made by Ulf Gustafsson, were found at LP Cover Lover and the bottom one at Farbror Sid.
"Lille Gerhard", who also called himself "Little Gerhard" when he sang in English, was one of the first Swedish "rock" singers in the 50s. Listen to Lille Gerhard at Sid's!

In his article "For the Record" about David Stone Martin in Today's Inspiration Leif Peng says "From my research on the net, it appears that DSM went on to create approximately 400 album covers!". I've posted before about that great article where you'll find some fine examples of David Stone Martin's album cover art.
Peng has also written other articles on Stone Martin making it clear that though being a very productive album cover artist Stone Martin was not only that.
