Freedom River

This animation by Stephen Bosustow from 1971 I posted on the 3rd of March 2007. You may think of the message as you wish, but I really like the animation and the narration by Orson Welles.

Animation: Karl-Bertil Jonssons julafton

IN SWEDISH! uploaded by maxxtroSwe

Wikipedia (eng): "Sagan om Karl-Bertil Jonssons Julafton ("The Tale About Karl-Bertil Jonsson's Christmas Eve") is Per Åhlin's animated movie adaptation of Tage Danielsson's short story of the same name, telling a heart-warming tale of a modern Robin Hood who takes from the rich to give to the poor people of Stockholm on Christmas Eve. Karl-Bertil Jonsson's Julafton has gained huge popularity in Sweden, and is broadcast every Christmas Eve on Swedish and Norwegian national television.

The film was dubbed to English in 1987, with Bernard Cribbins as the voice-over, and got the title "Christopher's Christmas Mission"."

Vintage Cartoon: Joie de vivre

Joei de vivre

(Anthony Gross & Hector Hoppin/1934)

"...in this case a sophisticated version of Perrault's Cinderella. Instead of working from designs from children's illustrated books, this film incorporates elements from French art nouveau posters, the fine art of Matisse and visual ideas from the Post Impressionists and Italian Futurists. The choreography is very imaginative, and constantly plays with the movement of the two dimensional abstractions in three dimensional space."

Cartoon: Rhapsody of Steel

Rhapsody of Steel
In this post from January ASIFA said: "Today we scanned a read-along storybook adaptation of John Sutherland's industrial film, Rhapsody of Steel (1959). Sutherland's studio was very influential in the mid-1950s, employing some of the best designers in the business. This film is no exception."

There is also a QuickTime link in the post!

Quite a difference isn't it? They hope to finish all the episodes this spring. However these are so far only for the Italian/Spanish versions. Let's hope not for long!
