Exhibition: Stig Lindberg

"Stig Lindberg's (1916-1982) designs for household items – notably ceramics – are familiar to almost all Swedes, as are his illustrations to popular children’s books. The exhibition gives a picture of Stig Lindberg's work as an industrial designer during the latter half of the 20th century."

A nice photo display of some of his works.

FYI: A funny thing happened yesterday...

They (my Wonderful new Danish readers) say that the third largest Danish newspaper Politiken (the paper issue) printed a link to our humble blog yesterday. Why?! you wonder and so did I. I, sort of, still do because I don't know in what context it was printed. Anyway, the link was to this particular post.

I just want to say Hej og velkommen to our new readers!

UPDATE: Reader Tue Kappel has been kind enough to scan the article for our reading pleasure. Here it is. Tusen takk, Tue!

By the way, who can identify the photo?

Video: Daaaay-O, Day-ay-ay-O

Uploaded to YouTube by videogameaddict64

The "Day-O scene", from Tim Burton's movie Beetlejuice, where the guests at a dinner party gets possesed and reluctantly starts to sing and dance to Harry Belafonte's probably biggest hit song "The Banana Boat Song (Day-O)"

The music is traditional Jamaican and the lyrics of this version is by Irving Burgie and William Attaway. Sing-a-long!!

Day-o, Day-o
Daylight come and me want go home
Day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day-o
Daylight come, and me want go . . .
Work all night on a drink of rum!
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Stack banana 'till the morning come!
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Come Mr. Tally Man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Come Mr. Tally Man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Lift 6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot bunch!
(Daylight come and me want go home)
6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot bunch!
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Day, me say day-o
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day-o
(Daylight come and me want go home)
A beautiful bunch of ripe banana!
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Hide the deadly black tarantula!
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Lift 6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot bunch!
(Daylight come and me want go home)
6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot bunch!
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Day, me say day-o
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day-o
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Come Mr. Tally Man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Come Mr. Tally Man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and me want go home)
Day-o, Day-o
Daylight come and me want go home
Day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day-o
(Daylight come and me want go home)

Music Video: 7 Zero featuring José González - Futures

"This low-budget video was done within just 2½ weeks for the planned DVD of Zero 7’s “The Garden”. The video visualizes crushed objects representing a diffuse future of wishes and desires which shape over time." Director Robert Seidel

Music: Piero Umiliani

Piero Umiliani
composed the soundtrack for Svezia, Inferno e Paradiso/Sweden, Heaven and Hell/Schweden - Hölle oder Paradies/ Sverige - Himmel eller helvete. It is typical laid-back lounge-style jazz-pop, á la 60s and 70s, often heard in European exploitation flicks of that era.

(The soundtrack of course contains the famous song "Mah-na-Mah-na"....)

Gosh! This one is even better than the last one. It's the American trailer of the same movie - Sweden, Heaven and Hell - Svezia, Inferno e Paradiso.

""Mah Nà Mah Nà" debuted as part of Umiliani's soundtrack for the Italian
softcore pornography movie Svezia, Inferno e Paradiso (Sweden, Hell and Heaven)
(1968), a pseudo-documentary film about wild sexual activity and other behavior
in Sweden ("Mah Nà Mah Nà" played under a portrayal of lesbian BDSM in the
film). A soundtrack album, "Svezia, Inferno e Paradiso" was released in 1968"
