Vintage Comics: That's the Spirit - Part 7

I had a very strong feeling, after seeing the trailer some months ago, that the movie The Spirit would be awful. It certainly didn't make me want to see it. It seems my feeling wasn't all wrong. And I bet I wasn't the only one.

The reception according to Wikipedia:
"The film has received generally negative reviews from critics. As of December 26, 2008, it has a 17% positive rating from 49 reviews on the movie-review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, the consensus being, "Though its visuals are unique, The Spirit's plot is almost incomprehensible, the dialogue is ludicrously mannered, and the characters are unmemorable". Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times said, "There is not a trace of human emotion in it. To call the characters cardboard is to insult a useful packing material"." (more...)

Animation: Karl-Bertil Jonssons julafton

IN SWEDISH! uploaded by maxxtroSwe

Wikipedia (eng): "Sagan om Karl-Bertil Jonssons Julafton ("The Tale About Karl-Bertil Jonsson's Christmas Eve") is Per Åhlin's animated movie adaptation of Tage Danielsson's short story of the same name, telling a heart-warming tale of a modern Robin Hood who takes from the rich to give to the poor people of Stockholm on Christmas Eve. Karl-Bertil Jonsson's Julafton has gained huge popularity in Sweden, and is broadcast every Christmas Eve on Swedish and Norwegian national television.

The film was dubbed to English in 1987, with Bernard Cribbins as the voice-over, and got the title "Christopher's Christmas Mission"."

Christmas Music: Santaism

Following the yule tradition that I've created for this blog I've put the annual Martin Klasch Christmas music mix together once again. There are 27 songs in this year's compilation but I'm not going to reveal which ones or by whom they are performed. I will say that if you've heard my other Christmas mixes you'll feel familiar with the style of the mix. If this interests you at all all you have to do is click the image of the cover and you'll end up at zSHARE where you'll be able to download the rar-file (130 MB). And just to annoy you I put a password on it - so to unpack the files you have type the name of this blog (without space).

I hope you'll enjoy it!
Sorry. No longer available.

PS. If anyone wondered: If I find the time and energy I might repost the mixes from earlier years. We'll see.
