Danish 70s Interior Design Porno Style

Let's take a look what's beyond, behind and beneath the flesh in Danish porn magazines of the 70s. Behold and be amazed by the crazy wallpapers, the psychadelic posters, the colorful carpets, the furniture, lamps and crazy kitsch accessories.

By the way, I'd say it's "safe for work".

Yes, this is a repost from 2009. It was probably the biggest hit that Martin Klasch and my other (now neglected) blog Musselsoppans Vänner ever had. The Russian edition of Esquire contacted me to get permission to use the images. Which they did. In March 2010, I believe.

Music: Birgit Lystager

This is a must! And it will only be available for download for a couple of days more - so hurry over to the fantastic blog Quite Quite Fantastic!

QQF mostly offers superfantastic mixes, which I highly recommend, but right now they offer some terrific out-of-print album rips like this one.

"Birgit Lystager is incredible, a Danish cross between Astrud Gilberto and Karen Carpenter with really artily written and composed pop songs..." (quote from Musictaste.com)

Click here for the Birgit Lystager post.

UPDATE: QQF is no longer active. Click here for a newer post about Birgit Lystager!

Illustration: Kay Nielsen

"Kay Nielsen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1886. His first success as an illustrator came with the book we digitized for inclusion in our media database today... 'The Twelve Dancing Princesses'. Nielsen differed from his contemporaries, who were steeped in the European tradition, by following the lead of artists from the art nouveau movement like Aubrey Beardsley, as well as Persian and Asian art."

La Roller Girl

It's time for another one of Gainsbourg's girls, or rather Godard's - Anna Karina. She started out as a Danish model but made a name for herself as an actor in french Nouvelle vague movies directed by Godard. Read more here and here.

Serge Gainsbourg, of course, made her sing a little too. Their great song Rollergirl can be found here on the wonderful blog called Spiked Candy specialized in french 60's pop, ye-ye girls and so on.

UPDATE: Mr Bedazzled - Spike Priggen - sent me this song he wrote about Anna Karina some 20 years ago. Thanks Spike!

Some of the other "Gainsbourg girls".
