These are paperback covers belonging to a Swedish publication series of crime books from the 60s called "Svarta serien" - "The Black Series". What they also have in common is that they are all illustrated by one of my absolute favorites - Per Åhlin. I and his other fans are lucky because in the 60s he was very active as a book cover illustrator. Thus it is not hard to come by his works in antiquarian bookshops or thrift stores.

Music: Heaven & Earth - "Refuge"

Three and a half years ago I posted about Heaven & Earth and their record Refuge. I hardly know anything about about the group, however the names of the two singer/songwriters are Pat Gefell and Jo D. Andrews and the record is from 1973. How to describe the music? Folkpop I guess. I'll let the experts give it a go in the comments if they like. If someone has additional information about the group and record it is most welcome. Anyway, I think it's a great record. Have a go!

Magazine Covers: Olle Eksell, part 2

In 1948 Olle Eksell created this cover for a Swedish literary magazine called "utsikt". The style is very much like some you'll find in Alvin Lustig's works I think. I haven't found proof of it but could Eksell been a student of Lustig's? He studied in LA after the war and Lustig taught there at the time...
